Description
This is an original UK pressing of the second release by Hatfield & The North, on the Virgin label, V2030. Arguably better than their debut album, this contains some typical English witticisms courtesy of Richard Sinclair and (the late) Pip Pyle. Fantastic playing throughout, both Phil Miller and Dave Stewart really shine. Great songs too. 'Mumps' is classic Dave Stewart - complex melody lines and key changes that take a long time to work their way into your head, but they stay there forever. Superb supporting cast including Jimmy Hastings on flute and the Northettes on backing vocals. Great stuff.
Hatfield & The North were one of the bands quoted by Richard Branson as responsible for putting Virgin Records into debt in the mid 1970's. He made up for it by signing the Sex Pistols.
