Early Hawkwind records have a loyal following for a reason. This is where the band’s raw cosmic identity was still taking shape β€” hypnotic repetition, proto-space rock atmosphere, underground tension and that unmistakable British freak-psych edge. Collectors search for these because they represent the foundation of the Hawkwind story, long before the band became a legendary name in the genre.

Ordinary listeners are drawn to it too, because this album still feels alive and adventurous. It is not polished or safe β€” it is immersive, strange, and genuinely transportive. The artwork alone is iconic, but the real pull is that feeling of early 70s experimentation captured on a proper UK copy.

We also checked the matrix / runout carefully from the photos. This copy shows SLS 1972921 A-1-1 and SLS 1972921 B-1-1, with an additional hand-etched Penthouse mark in the dead wax. That is an important collector detail and supports this being an early UK pressing.
