Description
Ray Sharpe – “Help Me – Part 1” b/w “Same – Part 2” (Atco 6402). Great spring of 1965 release by Sharpe with backing by the King Curtis band, including Cornell Dupree on lead guitar and Jimi Hendrix on rhythm. Sharpe was introduced to "Gloria" by King Curtis when he joined Curtis to play it at the after-party of the Beatles Hollywood Bowl concert in 1965 (Curtis opened). Sharpe was playing "Gloria" with the house band at the Galaxy in LA. Sharpe says, Cornell "kept hearing something else as opposed to what I was singing" so they basically rewrote "Gloria" to come up with "Help Me." Record is a cut-out in strong VG+ to M- condition. Postage will be paid by purchaser.
