Description
Group: Obscure 45 record on Damon Label by the male group Teardrops. I would not be surprised if this is the only known copy as Vic Damon, who owned Damon Recording in Kansas City, MO died in 1974. I am not an expert, but I believe this record is from the late 1960s-early 1970s. At this time, I have been unable to find out anything about this record. The group and the songs are excellent.
Record Label: Damon Hi-Fidelty.
Songs: I'm Gonna Get You/Don't Fade Away.
Condition: We have sold enough records in the past that we are very good raters as buyers said we were either right on, or they would have rated it higher. This record is VG. Plays VG+ to VG++. Perhaps a professional cleaning would help the record play even better. There is a tiny little place right before play on Side 1 where some of the black is missing and you can see the metal. It is my understanding that this is what makes it an acetate instead of a test pressing. If I do not have that correct, please write and let me know. Along the very edge of the record are four tiny specks where the metal is showing through. Record is thicker and heavier than other 45s. As you can see, the labels are typewritten. On the I'm Gonna Get You side, there is a tiny ink scribble. On the other side, someone drew a line from record to hi fidelity going through the words Don't Fade.
Sound: There is some minor static popping in the beginning on Side 2 and in the middle. The tiny little place right before play on Side 1 where the metal shows through causes the record to "pop" before play begins. We only played both sides through once to check for any skips or repeats (none), and then played long enough to get the sound clips.
