Description

Nice copy of this rare LP by Herb Jeffries(& Eden Ahbez). The complete title is "The singing prophet/Echoes of eternity" on the Olympic records label(olp-1201) This is a great and bizarre Eden Ahbez artifact for those into thee early prehippy 'close to the earth philospher' genius who wrote nat king cole's 'nature boy'. Herb Jeffries was apparently a kind of popular ez-listening singer(with apparent stints with the Duke Ellington& Earl Hines) who sings& narrates on this record(& had it privately pressed?)  Eden Ahbez (also known for his amazing "Eden's Island" LP)... doesn't play on this record but wrote all of side one and a couple sections of side 2... and what is really interesting is that it includes his complete (pre-Eden's Island)symphonic suite called "the legend of nature boy"(this album was apparently released after Nat KIng Cole's career took off with 'nature boy') Some of this record is moving... and some of it totally ridiculous! Thanks to Will at showandtell dot come for some of this information. And thanks to Eden Ahbez for opening so many doors...Cover has some aging and wear/scuffs, and two small pieces of scotch tape along the bottom seam where there is a small 2" seam split. record has some small superficial scuffs but plays fine with minor crackling.
