Description
Hillside Records 18305, 1966 Various Artists sampler. Classic central Ohio garage punk compilation. What a lineup- cool band names galore: Possums, Grim Reapers, New Breeds, Penetrations, Terry Davidson & Barracudas, Brickwalls, Kings English, Gears, Eggs, Noblemen, Marquis, and The Deadlys! Plenty of amateur teenage garage rock to go around on this one. This was originally issued with no cover but someone took the time to lovingly design their own by hand copying both labels on the front of a plain white generic cardboard cover- very cool. The cover is vg+, solid seams with foxing on front and back. The record visually grades g. It is covered with scuffs and scratches, none deep enough to feel with a fingernail. I've played both sides of this album and I give side one a play grade of vg+. There is constant light surface noise and occasional ticks but no skips and very few noticeable hard pops. There is a large scuff on the first 2/3's of side two which causes a whisking noise on each rotation and the general surface noise and pops are more noticeable, I give side two a play grade of vg. I think it sounds great, but keep in mind this is coming from someone who enjoys listening to beat up Kingsmen albums on an Audiotronics classroom record player. Great record!
