UK American Recordings USA 14, 1971
We’re having a bit of a clearout of stuff at home so I’ve put most of my usual eBay sales of art and ephemera mostly to one side for a couple of weeks. I’ve got a large personal collection of vinyl, lots of which I don’t play any more, so one of the things we will be selling is records. This week I’m listing a small number of Northern Soul singles.
The Next In Line was originally issued on the Laurie label in the USA in 1967. It was issued on Stateside in the UK in the same year. In 1971, it was resissued in the UK on the UK American Recordings label, specifically to meet the demand in the Northern Soul market. As you can see, this is a copy of that reissue. Even these reissues are now quite hard to find.
This example is in reasonable condition. It does have surface scratches but plays OK, not least because it has such a dense sound that it is hard to hear any surface noise from the record itself - although it does crackle in the run-in grooves. There are a couple of tiny chips to the very edge of the record but these do not make any difference and look like pressing faults to me, The black central portion of the record (i.e. the area around the hole) is quite marked, possibly because someone once had put small ownership stickers on there (?). Obviously this doesn’t make any difference to the record at all but like the tiny edge chips, I mention it for the sake of completeness. The record is in a new plain white sleeve.
