Description
I never use generic AI descriptions or stock
photos. The item you see pictured is the actual
item you’ll receive.
This is a pretty rare one. It’s a 1964 US Mono
deep groove on side 1 only. Which is a very
early mono 1st pressing of this record.
Blue/White "Blue Note Records Inc • New
York USA" labels.
VAN GELDER stamped in the runouts on
both sides.
“P" (otherwise wrongly called "ear") for
Plastylite plant etched in the runouts on
both sides.
non-laminated jacket.
43 West 61st St., New York 23 address on back cover
I’ve play tested this record and give it a G+. It
has significant surface noise throughout. It is
especially audible during the quiet parts but
doesn’t over power the music once it gets
going. It is always there though if you’re
listening for it. It’s especially present on B1.
No skips or jumps though.
I’ve tried to
capture in the pictures what the surface looks
like. It has heavy amounts of surface marks and
heavy wear around the center hole. Surprisingly
there is only one scratch I could actually feel the
mark with my fingernail. It does run vertically
through song 3 one side one & most of song 2.
Again surprisingly it doesn’t produce a super
loud pop but obviously the ever present crackle
probably masks it a bit.
I’d give the sleeve a VG. Mostly for its
heavy corner wear (see pictures). There is
significant wear and chipping on the seams
however there is no significant seam splits.
There is a 1/2” split starting at the top but that’s
it. The spine is strong & for the most part
readable. There is a name written at the top of
the back cover (see pictures). Very light ring wear
as the covers have survived surprisingly well
compared to the corners. The cover picture
saves the sleeve from being a G+ in my
opinion. Please ask for more pictures if needed.
Unfortunately it is missing the original inner &
has a vintage Atlantic inner.
I can do a recording and post to YouTube if you’d
like. I’d be happy to upon request. I use the
Goldmine grading standard.
Here what’s on the etching:
Side 1: BNLP-4165 A VAN GELDER [Cursive P]
Side 2: BNLP-4165 B VAN GELDER [Cursive P]
This version is an extremely early 1st pressing
and extremely rare. There are only 25 known on
