Often compared to Gerry and the Pacemakers, they played a long residency at the Star Club in Hamburg (also backing Gene Vincent for a show at a large stadium).
Ian and the Zodiacs had one of the longest histories of any band working in Liverpool, which makes their utter obscurity in that city even more of a puzzle, considering that they played r&b well enough to become stars in Germany.
Remaining under the Star Club's management for four years, The Zodiacs had Top Ten records in Germany and went to No 1 in Texas with The Crying Game. They broke up in 1967
