Iconoclast -- Iconoclast LP
Original 196? private pressing on no label (catalog # CO 2084), in vintage plain white cover.Entirely unknown and true-to-its-name very iconoclastic outsider Xian folk private LP... I have searched a long time for info on this but so far still have absolutely no idea who this is exactly, where it's from or when it was made. It's gotta be American, and has the sound and feel of mid-late 1960's, as this LP has a veiled reference to the Vietnam War (and the follow-up Iconoclast Two had an anti-war song which mentions youth taking LSD and rioting in city streets.)
The music on here is hard to describe accurately... and its charm and appeal are hard to convey in words... suffice to say it's solo folk, angry-man-against-the-world, or more accurately earnest yet disilluioned believer railing against organized religion, voiced with a unique worldview of an at-times charming, at-times insufferable sort of nerdy curmudgeon-slash-crank-slash-poet.
Over pretty trad old-timey acoustic strumming, surely taking off from early Bob Dylan, Iconoclast delivers his purely over-the-top lyrics in a weird off-kilter deadpan-falsetto with insanely convoluted rhymes... loner/outsider/savant/heretic/"iconoclastic" self-righteous tongue-tying rants against the church, church orthodoxy, churchgoers, hypocrites, higher education, organized religion, society in general...
Some of the songs are actually poetic and allegorical, with phrasing that becomes quite lyrical and almost haunting. Other songs are clumsy in their convoluted rhymes, and as such can get truly laugh-out-loud funny. Iconoclast can segue from a knee-slappingly idiotic verse into a spine-tingling poetic chorus without taking a breath, and, well, there's something to be said for that. And heaven help you if you get one of his songs stuck in your head...

Shipping And Payment Info
Vinyl can be shipped worldwide via any method.
I will combine shipping. Winners of multiple items save substantially on shipping costs.
Within the US: Media Mail shipping is calculated automatically based on weight. NOTE: Media Mail can be S-L-O-W sometimes, especially to the West Coast. Media Mail delivery time is usually anywhere from 4 to 10 days, but occasionally it takes 2 weeks or even longer to reach the West Coast from here. Please consider this potential delay before you decide to go with Media Mail instead of Priority Mail. Priority Mail is a highly recommended option for all vinyl, it's a lot faster and much more secure -- I double-box (and sometimes triple-box) all LP's shipped via Priority Mail. Cost is reasonable and calculated based on your zip code.
Shipping costs include delivery confirmation for all US orders.
- Combine shipping with other items: The cost of each extra item is calculated automatically based on weight: if you want to add a record or CD to your order the cost is less than $1, usually around 50 cents per extra item depending on total weight.
Combine shipping with other items: If you want to add a normal-weight record (7", 12", or LP) or CD to your order the cost is reasonable, usually not more than $3.99 per extra item, often less, depending on total weight.
All records are packaged securely, protected by both stiff and cushion packaging, with vinyl (in original innersleeve) removed from cover and placed safely in poly sleeve to help prevent seam splitting during transit.
I can usually accommodate special shipping requests or special payment requirements, just ask.
