Description
It was the first album to bear the credit "Produced by Jeff Lynne," who according to Roger Spencer basically bluffed his way through the whole process! As it turned out, the self titled lp shows a maturity well beyond the experience shared by the constituent members. The album is well paced and hangs together perfectly, lyrically and aurally superior to the first, featuring marvellous, melodic arrangements that even Lennon/McCartney would have been proud of! The lp should be declared a national treasure because in its rather ballistically, insane way it sounds so very English. England what Englishness is...
Sunday roasts, Yorkshire pudding, fairgrounds, fish and chips, Morcambe and Wise, the Two Ronnies, Dr. Who, Thunderbirds, Match of the Day, colliery bands, Saturday morning pictures (The ABC Club), a pint, the Queen, Hovis bread, Bovril, cold misty Winter mornings, Guy Fawkes night, bramble picking, garden allotments, pigeons, the rag and bone man etc.The cover is in excellent condition , A rare record in strong excellent condition According to Record Collectors Guide. THIS RARE AND HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER ORIGINAL STEREO UK LP IS - 'IDLE RACE' BY THE 60'S GROUP OF THE SAME NAME. JEFF LYNNE WAS A MEMBER OF THE OUTFIT AND PRODUCED THIS ALBUM.
