Description
This is a fine debut self-titled LP by a great jazz prog psych band called If from 1970. This is an early UK pressing on the Island label (catalogue no. ILPS 9129). It's a stereo recording. The band features the legendary guitarist, Terry Smith and a formidable brass section. The record is pressed on the pink 'i' label. The music has a great jazz feel to it with loads of progressive and psychedelic additions.
OUTER SLEEVE - This is a delicate silver sleeve which shows some ring wear on both sides. There is also some wear on the metallic silver finish. There is some very minor ballpen writing on the front top right of the sleeve. The top and bottom edges are in fine condition with some minor wear abd the spine is also in very reasonable condition with the wording along the spine being 100% readable. It states on the bottom rear of the sleeve - 'Printed and made by the E. J. day Group, London and Bedford'. It also states on the rear of the sleeve - 'Producer : Lew Futterman - Sound : Frank Owen - Cover Art : CCS ADVERTISING ASSOCIATES. Recorded in February, March and April 1970, Island Studios, London'. I've graded the sleeve Ex--.
INNER SLEEVE - This is a white diecut type with a polythene liner. There is no wording on either side.
RECORD - This has been well played and there are some minor surface marks on both sides which result in minor surface noise throughout both sides, especially in quiet passages and between tracks. There are occasional pops and clicks but there are definitely no jumps or skips on either side. The labels which feature the pink 'i' Island logo are in fine condition and have a textured feel to them. There are some definite spindle marks on both labels. It states on both labels - 'Produced by Lew Futterman'. The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are - side one - ILPS 9129 A*1 1 1 - side two - ILPS 9129 BV1 1 1 2. I have graded the record as Ex- and believe that this is very fair.
