THIS IS THE ORIGINAL FIRST 1963 MONO PRESSING ON THE SUE ORANGE LABEL WITH BLACK PRINT# LP-2004.

As husband and wife, Ike & Tina Turner headed up one of the most potent live acts on the R&B circuit during the '60s and early '70s. Guitarist and bandleader Ike kept his ensemble tight and well-drilled while throwing in his own distinctively twangy plucking; lead vocalist Tina was a ferocious whirlwind of power and energy, a raw sexual dynamo who was impossible to contain when she hit the stage, leading some critics to call her the first female singer to embody the true spirit of rock & roll. In their prime, the Ike & Tina Turner Revue specialized in a hard-driving, funked-up hybrid of soul and rock that, in its best moments, rose to a visceral frenzy that few R&B acts of any era could hope to match. Effusively praised by white rock luminaries like the Rolling Stones and Janis Joplin, Tina was unquestionably the star of the show, with a hugely powerful, raspy voice that ranks among the all-time soul greats!

VISUALLY, THE 52 YEAR OLD THICK VINYL DISC IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION!

I HAVE EXAMINED THIS UNDER BRIGHT LIGHT AND NOTICED THAT THE PLATTER HAS RETAINED A FAIR AMOUNT OF HER ORIGINAL DEEP RICH GLOSS. THERE ARE MANY LIGHT SCUFFS/HAIRLINES MOSTLY OF THE SWIRLY VARIETY WITH MAYBE A PORTION OF 1 OR 2 THAT I CONSIDERED TO BE JUST BARELY FEEL-ABLE. NONE OF WHICH SERIOUSLY EFFECTED THE LISTENING EXPERIENCE TO THE POINT OF BEING UNENJOYABLE! THERE WAS 1 VERY QUICK SKIP (PLEASE SEE PLAY GRADE SECTION) THE LABELS AS YOU CAN SEE ARE VG- WITH REMNANTS OF A NAME THAT WAS PARTIALLY REMOVED FROM EACH SIDE.

PLEASE NOTE THESE LABEL PICS ARE BLOWN UP LARGER THAN ACTUAL SIZE! ANY IMPERFECTIONS APPEAR WORSE THAN THEY ACTUALLY ARE!!

BASED ON THE ABOVE IMPERFECTIONS I FEEL THE VINYL GRADES AS VG

THE COVER  HAS SEEN BETTER DAYS BUT STILL DOES ITS JOB! THERE IS NOT TAPE ANYWHERE AND VERY LITTLE RING/SHELF WEAR SO IT PRESENTS VERY NICELY! IT IS HOWEVER SEVERELY WARPED PLEASE SEE NEXT PIC DOWN. THERE IS A 6" SPLIT TO THE UPPER SEAM AND THE LOWER IS JUST STARTING TO SPLIT. THE SPINE IS WORN BUT TIGHT AND READABLE. THERE ARE SOME CORNER DINGS & CREASES/SOILING/ AND STAINING AS SHOWN. THE REVERSE SIDE IS A MESS...IT APPEARS THIS WAS MOUNTED TO A WALL WITH 2-SIDED TAPE OR SOMETHING AS YOU CAN SEE PAPER LOSS IN VARIOUS SECTIONS. MOST OF THE LINER NOTES ARE STILL READABLE BUT PORTIONS ARE MISSING AS SHOWN

  BASED ON THE ABOVE IMPERFECTIONS I FEEL THAT THE COVER GRADES AS G

   I HAVE  PLAY GRADED THIS MOMENTS AGO AND THE LISTENING EXPERIENCE WAS  EXCELLENT! THERE WAS SOME MINOR BACKGROUND NOISE THAT COULD BE HEARD HERE & THERE.  MOSTLY IN THE QUITE PASSAGES. I DID NOT CONSIDER THE NOISE LEVEL TO BE  OVERWHELMING OR OVERPOWERING AT ALL! THERE WERE SOME LIGHT TICS ON A COUPLE OF SONGS BUT THERE WAS 1 VERY QUICK SKIP ON THE SONG "IT'S GONNA WORK OUT FINE" VERY QUICK AND PLAYED RIGHT THROUGH. THERE WERE NO STICKS, REPEATS OR LOUD DISTRACTING POPS OR BURPS!   OVERALL THE LISTENING EXPERIENCE WAS VERY MUCH ENJOYABLE AND WOULD NORMALLY GRADE IT EXCELLENT BUT DUE TO THE QUICK SKIP I GIVE IT A VG.

  OVERALL  CONSIDERING ALL OF THE ABOVE I FEEL THIS LP DESERVES A GRADE OF VG- TO VG 

 ALL THAT BEING  SAID, IF YOU TEND TO BE ON THE FUSSY SIDE AND FIND YOURSELF RETURNING LP'S OFTEN THIS IS MOST LIKELY NOT FOR YOU!!

SHE IS NOT REAL PRETTY BUT TINA STILL SOUNDS LOUD & PROUD! AN AWESOME RECORD TO TAKE TO A PARTY AND WILL SERVE WELL UNTIL THAT NRMT ONE COMES ACROSS YOUR PATH!

WE USE GOLDMINE AS GUIDELINE FOR OUR GRADING SYSTEM.

ALL RECORDS ARE VISUALLY INSPECTED UNDER BRIGHT LIGHT. I TRY TO PLAY GRADE WHEN POSSIBLE OR AT LEAST IN ANY AREAS IDENTIFIED AS QUESTIONABLE FROM THE VISUAL INSPECTION.

MINT

Mint records are in most cases sealed in original shrink wrap. The only wear permissible is to the shrink wrap itself.

NEAR-MINT

 NM records have glossy vinyl. There are no visible defects such as writing, tape, or stickers on the labels. The labels should not contain any spindle marks (from someone blindly trying to put the record on the turntable) The vinyl may have a few extremely fine hairline scratches or light scuffs that do not affect the sound quality. The vinyl will "appear" to have been unplayed (It may very well have been played and well-cared for) The album cover will have NO writing, tape, creases, folds, seam splits ,stains, ring wear or Promo holes or cuts!

VG+ (EXCELLENT)

VG+ records have glossy vinyl. Slight signs of wear, including light scuffs, very light scratches or slight warping that does not  seriously affect the listening experience is permissible. Very slight intermittent background noise mostly in the quiet passages is acceptable. 

The album cover will have no more than three of the following imperfections: light writing such as initials or name in one area, minor creasing, seam splits not larger than 1".  Neatly taped seams of 2" or less. It may also contain very slight ring wear or discoloration, a promo stamp, punch hole or cut-out as originally sold.

VG

VG Records have more obvious flaws such as more pronounced scratches & lack of gloss. Groove wear and scratches deep enough to be felt with a fingernail are common. When played there will be surface noise but it should not continuously overpower the music. There are NO skips permissible with no more than 1.5 grahams of tracking force. It is common to hear crackling and pops especially in the quiet passages. The labels may contain writing such as a persons name or initials or it may contain a piece of tape or sticker with or without writing. The cover may have some seam splits, writing, tape, stickers, ring wear and scuffs.

VG-

VG- All of the defects listed VG category would be more pronounced. The record will play through without skipping WITH NORMAL tracking force. A quick skip or two with no more that 2.5 grahams of tracking force are permissible. The record will have many obvious flaws but still enjoyable to listen to. Generally if the record is rare, it is still highly collectible.

G/G+

Good (G), Good Plus (G+) Good does not mean Bad! A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping WITH NORMAL tracking force. A quick skip or two with no more that 2.5 grahams of tracking force are permissible. It will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear (on a styrene record, the groove will be starting to turn white). A cover or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object.
