IKE TURNER & THE KINGS OF RHYTHM – A Black Man’s Soul (1969) Pompeii-6003 – M-/EX (cover/vinyl)
This is one of the all-time great funk instrumental albums, and it has the unique distinction of this genre for actually being nominated for a grammy award. This is a monster from the beginning to the end with breaks and beats galore and just tons of killer funk instrumental tracks like “Thinking Black,” “Ghetto Funk,” “Getting Nasty,” “Funky Mule,” Up Hard,” “Nuttin’ Up,” and many others. There isn’t a bad track on here. Essential.
This is a beautiful copy. The cover is tight and bright with no seam splits an in original shrink wrap. The vinyl is super clean and glossy with only insignificant sleeve scuffs that don’t affect play. I grade this conservatively: M-/EX (cover/vinyl).
