Incredible String Band
'Changing Horses'
Elektra, UK, 1969
EKS 74057
THE ISB's fifth album but in effect the first to really define their sound and direction towards a more strident electric vibe. Striped down to a two piece featuring Robin Williamson and Mike Heron (with support from their partners Licorice McKechnie and Rose Simpson), the album focuses on trad mid sixties folk but is embellished with carefully placed psych sounds and instruments from Sitar to tablas and all points in between. Most of the album is spearheaded by two lengthy tracks 'White Bird' and 'Creation', both great tracks with incredible arrangements. Arguably one of the genre's most important releases and certainly one of the most entertaining.
Produced by the legendary Joe Boyd.
This is an original issue with the Red Elektra label in a gate fold sleeve.
This auction is part of a fantastic collection of seventies rock which I was lucky enough to acquire. Most of these records were stored with the utmost care and sparsely played. Some were possibly never played or may have been for just a handful of times.
