Description

INDIAN SUMMER - s/t

A nice condition and increasingly rare UK 1st press copy of this prog gem with just a few minor blemishes only

Year/Label : 1971 UK RCA NEON Label number : NE 3 Matrix numbers : ZGBS 0491 - 3, ZGBS 0492 - 3 Stampers :  A3C  /  A3C
Very good plus (VG+) condition vinyl -  completely flat and weighty with just a few faint small hairlines and equally faint paper scuffs on each side, along with some very light discolouration/shading spots caused by the vinyl surface reacting with the inner sleeve polythene - only visible with close inspection and when the vinyl is tilted to the correct angle in a good light and not affecting playback at all - very common with these early 70's RCA Neon releases. On side 1 there is also a tiny, and just feelable, manufacturing dink in the vinyl between A1 and A2 which does result in x14 light rotational clicks at the very end of A1, the intermission, and the very beginning of A2.  Excellent condition labels with a few barely noticeable very faint and small spindle trails on each and just the hint of some very light discolouration towards the circumference on each label - very trivial. Non-laminated very good plus (VG+) condition original E.J. Day outer gatefold sleeve with all edges remaining firm with some mild scuffing on the bottom reverse side edge and again on the top front-side edge. The spine itself remains rigid with just a couple of tiny scuff "nicks" and all spine text remaining perfectly intact. The vibrant colours, iconic art work, interior photos and all text remain nicely intact with the exception of a small scuff mark towards the front-side top edge where presumably an old label or sticker has been carelessly removed (see photo). Each corner remains a nicely defined right angle with minimal rubbing, the opening edges are firm with no sign of edge fraying, and the interior of the gatefold is excellent with the only blemish being a slight buckle in the cardboard just to the left of the spine about two thirds of the way up. An impressive and highly presentable copy of this iconic 1971 gatefold.  Overall excellent (EX) stereo audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, or distortion and background crackle is virtually non-existent (just the merest hint of some very, very light background crackle during a couple of the intermissions and at the very end of each side - nothing really). As already mentioned there is some mild and limited clicking (x14 clicks in total) at the end of A1, the beginning of A2 and the intermission due to a small manufacturing dink (see photo). I have no hesitation in stating that every track is truly a great listen with "Glimpse", "Half Changed Man", and "Another Tree Will Grow" being top drawer prog rock. A terrific LP. Comes with original poly-lined black inner sleeve with no seam splits and remaining in excellent condition and fully functional. I will ship the record in new plain white poly-lined inner sleeves in order to protect the originals.    A very nice condition copy of this UK 1st press prog rock gem with the stereo audio quality being a true highlight.
POSTAGE COSTS :

For the UK £4 using Royal Mail tracked 48;

for continental Europe £11 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for,

and for the rest of the world £18 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for.

I do provide posting and packaging discounts for multiple purchases. I make no profit from postage.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
