Hard-to-find US import. One of the early soundtrack releases on 20th Century-Fox.
The movie (1958, dir. Mark Robson) starred Ingrid Bergman, Curt Jurgens and Robert Donat.
Condition VINYL: F. Some marks on visual inspection. Played just pre-listing and sound clarity is fair. Some clicks and pops in places and surface noise throughout. Clearer during some cues. OUTER SLEEVE/COVER: F-G. Colours remain vibrant and unfaded. Mottling effect across a lot of front. Thick card stock cover. Obvious damage to the edges and a few creases. Creasing where the disc outline is on front. A few vein-like creases on front. Rear shows soiling and bottom right corner is torn where corner/edge damage has occurred. Corners are bent/folded on rear. A good example considering its age. INNER SLEEVE: EX. White poly-lined paper with central hole and square corners. Minor creases and folds. Intact.

"The Inn of the Sixth Happiness" is a 1958 fact-based film starring Ingrid Bergman, Curt Jurgens and Robert Donat. Bergman plays a 1930s English woman, a rejected missionary, who travels on her own to a small Chinese village and assists the owner of a small inn.
When that owner dies she takes over the inn temporarily and then , at the behest of The Mandarin of Yang Cheng (Robert Donat) she becomes a “foot inspector”, seeking out evidence of outlawed local foot-binding of young girls. Along the way she meets and falls in love with a half-Chinese soldier (Curt Jurgens) and as the invading Japanese Army threatens the safety of local children she sets out to rescue them.
The traditional so-called “Children’s Marching Song (This Old Man)" from the soundtrack became a hit. The soundtrack score by Malcolm Arnold (1921-2006) was released on LP by 20th Century Fox in 1958. (SFX-3001 – stereo; FOX-3001-mono). Arnold had a group of Chinese musicians flown from Hong Kong to London to supplement the recording of this soundtrack with the London Royal Philharmonic.
