Various – Invitation to Screen and Popular Music Vol.9 (DeLuxe Booklet LP) (Soundtracks) (1970)
Japanese import soundtrack album compilation 'Invitation To Screen And Popular Music – Vol. 9' (est. 1970), featuring 12 tracks from the movies performed by various Japanese orchestras and bands.
This is part of a fabulous series of Japan-only releases presented in a collectible hardback booklet with superb colour and duotone photos of the stars, films and locations. Text in Japanese apart from track list and film information in English.
This volume features fabulous stills from films 2001: A Space Odyssey especially, plus The Third Man, Black Orpheus, Tales of Hoffmann, L'Eclipse and others.
Condition VINYL: G. Looks clean on visual inspection but one hairline each side. Played just pre-listing and sound clarity is just about good throughout. Run-ins have some surface noise and crackling, more notable on side 2. Static and clicks in places and during quieter cues/fadeouts. Plays with no skipping, jumping or sticking. A fair listen to this unusual soundtrack compilation.
OUTER SLEEVE/COVER/BOOK: VG. Colours are clear and unfaded on thick matt textured hardback book sleeve. Very light nicks to corners. Edges, spine and aperture undamaged though aperture side is bowed. Outer gate clean and inner pages present, unfaded, clean and attached. Mild age-related foxing and stains to inside front cover and latter pages through to inside back cover. Great overall.
INNER SLEEVE: VG. Clear D-shaped poly sleeve. Light crinkling, folds and creases. Intact.

ITEM CONDITION - items are graded according to Record Collector definitions - see below:
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
