IRISH COFFEE:Same (triangle/akarma 1971)

Rare limited LP reissue of megarare Belgian hard/rock cult album

This LP sounds exactly like the krautrock band Birth Control, but with a thankfully much smaller emphasis

on the organ...This Hammond sounds great, with real killer epic tracks that approaches the towering genius
of LUCIFER's FRIEND or ATOMIC ROOSTER.
The vocalist even sings exactly the same way,but reminds me of reminds me also of both Roger Chapman
and Rod Evans with the strained half-screamed singing and thick accent (honestly sounds like the same guy).
They even have a wah-driven "dance" track ("The Show Part I"), just like the killer Birth Control's famous
"Gamma Ray" which was coincidentally released in the same year.
Despite the relative blandness of this album, I really adore the amplified psychedelic guitar solos, especially
when the wah-pedal is used. And even though this album is characterised as "hard rock", the band isn't very
good at playing heavy. In fact, the best moments of the album are when they play slow, sad, "epic" songs.
The best examples are "A Day Like Today" (the best track) and "The Beginning of the End".
The last track called "I'm Lost" is a fascinating ditty with welcome subsitution of JETHRO TULL / GENESIS
proggy moves over further Deep Purple influences.
