Description

IRON BUTTERFLY **IN-A-GADDA-DA-VIDA** 1968 First Pressing Release (Purple And Brown Label) On ATCO SD 33-250  VG to VG+ Condition!

ALBUM COVER:  VG (No Shrinkwrap).  Cover is rough, but acceptable.  Light to moderate ring/shelf wear on both sides.  Moderate to serious roughness along the edges, mostly on the bottom.  The corners each has a minor to moderate ding about it.  The spine is not perfect, but decent for a 68' model.  A minor peel about the back cover paste on near the top corner (see photo).  No serious graffiti, back of the cover is rough but not bad.  Colors and hues are still pretty bold and vivid, and overall, the cover is in acceptable+ condition.  No side, top or bottom seam splits.

INNER SLEEVE:  VG.  Original ATCO "ad-back" inner sleeve (no label hole) is in nice shape overall with the exception of a 5" bottom split and a 4-5" split on one side.  No glue separation or egregious roughness along the edges.

VINYL:  VG to VG+ Cosmetically.  Both sides are almost totally free of any serious scratches or gouges, but quite a few minor to moderate light surface scratches are obvious.  A few very light blemishes here and there, but nothing that causes any distortion, clicking, loud popping or annoyances during playback.  Still fairly shiny, but moderate wear is obvious.  This record was played on vintage equipment quite frequently, but with extreme care and it still sounds very nice.  Not played to death, the album still has a long turntable life ahead of it and is in very good condition overall for its age.

LABELS:  MINT MINUS.  Both labels are in excellent shape, exceptionally clean, near zero spindle wear, but an abundance of light spindle trails visible on both sides.  No scratches, tears or graffiti.  Colors are bold and beautiful.  Very Nice!

This release contains the timeless classic title track plus 5 additional selections.  See last frame of gallery photos for complete track listing.

Please examine all photos carefully prior to bidding.  Most, if not all the flaws noted in this description may be viewed more closely in the photo gallery.  May I stress, don't like it?  Not as nice as you'd hoped or expected?  Just let me know.  Buyer satisfaction always guaranteed and returns always accepted.  Buyer is responsible for return shipping costs.

THIS RECORD WAS GRADED AUDIBLY 'LOUD' IN STEREO MODE, SO THAT ANY AND ALL NOISE POLLUTION COULD BE HEARD AND NOTED.  NO HEADPHONES GRADING!

SIDE ONE

Some loud cracking and popping at entro.  Light to very light noise between tracks and light noise in the trail off area.  Some scattered light noise and light popping is noticeable on occasions throughout the side, but nothing really of an annoying nature...just some light to moderate "character" noise in spots.  Side plays through nicely, and no overly distracting noise.  I gave side one a grade of "B" audibly.  A little bit of noise, but side plays through okay and is not bad.

SIDE TWO

Some loud pops and moderate noise at entro.  Light noise with a few light pops in the trail off area.  A few scattered very light pops and some very light noise can be noticed sporadically during diminished segments, but no noise of a distracting nature.  Side plays through perfectly, and is free of any nasty noise, just some mildly noticeable "character" noise.  Way cool overall sound, especially during the drum solo.  I gave side two a "B+" grade audibly.  I am very strict in audible gradings.

SUMMARY:  Cosmetically, this record is overall about a 7 or 8 (a 1 is scrap).  According to Discogs and Goldmines', this copy is a legitimate first U.S. stereo release and is highly collectible.  It is also pleasing to the ear, and suitable for recording to another medium provided a little noise is tolerable.  The description and audible gradings are honest and as thorough as possible.  This album is not perfect sound wise, but is a very worthwhile investment mainly due to the rare label.

THIS ALBUM IS A "ONE OWNER".  I HAVE KNOWN THE ORIGINAL OWNER SINCE GRADE SCHOOL AND ALTHOUGH THIS RECORD IS A BIT ROUGH, THE OWNER WAS FANATICAL WHEN IT CAME TO CARING FOR HIS RECORDS.  IT WAS PURCHASED NEW IN 1968 AT THE MELODY SHOP IN FORT WORTH, TEXAS.  THE MELODY SHOP OPENED IN 1951 AND CLOSED IN 2002.

Thanks for having a look!

Questions regarding this record will be answered honestly and as promptly as possible.

I am not a dealer, nor will I pretend to be an expert on grading records. Im just a guy that's been buying and collecting records for over 50 years. I use Goldmines price guide as a tool when either buying or selling an album or 45. My pre-listing procedure is: to clean the record (if necessary), visually inspect record and album cover for obvious imperfections, and to play each record in its entirety to check for sound quality. I try to simply give my honest opinion of the record's condition without the technical gobbledygook. I believe that grading a record can be as subjective as judging Olympic figure skating, therefore, my opinion may well differ from yours as a prospective buyer, either in a positive or in a negative way. I simply offer a full money back guarantee + shipping cost on any record that I sell, if you are not 100% satisfied with the purchase. I do not want negative feedback in the event that I overlook an egregious flaw or if my opinion of the record is beneath the buyer's expectations. If you are the end buyer and are dissatisfied in any way, please contact me immediately and return the record in the condition you received it within 14 days of the purchase date. I ship same or next business day after payment is received. All records with a purchase price of $25.00 or more will be insured (included in the shipping price).  Records are shipped in custom fitted LP shipping cartons with protective plastic covering.

Please do not ask me to discount shipping on single item purchases. In order to get buyers their items as quickly as possible, I ship same or next business day upon confirmation of receipt of payment. I live out in the sticks. It is 17 miles round trip to the nearest mailing center and my old truck gets crummy mileage, so I must consider fuel when calculating shipping costs. Multiple items purchases will be bundled and a discounted shipping fee negotiated, based on type(s) of items purchased. Thanks for your consideration.

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS PLEASE NOTE: Import duties, taxes and charges are NOT INCLUDED in this item's price or shipping charges. Also, law prohibits devaluing the actual purchase price, and/or stating that this item is a "Gift".
