The very first studio album to feature the talents of new recruit Blaze Bayley, ' The X Factor' was mauled by the fans on its release. In hindsight this reaction seems completely unfair: Bayley's introduction to the group brought a more natural and honest vocal style and focused the band's energies into a darker place. This a MONSTER album: DOUBLE vinyl, evil and dark overtones, an epic 'Sign Of The Cross' (which sounds MIGHTY on vinyl) and the usual guitar sword play you expect from Murray and Gers.
On vinyl, this is almost impossible to find now. As with all the nineties maiden releases, the print runs were getting smaller due to CDs and many people simply opted for the easier option! Looking bad it's hard to see why: luxuriously packaged on double gatefold, thick clear vinyl and a GIGANTIC poster compared to a crappy little piece of digital nastiness? I know which one I chose. These records SUPER RARE and collectable. At the time I remained faithful to LPs and so now have ALL the rare Bayley era LPs up for grabs! Make no mistake this LP is RARE... like all my listings I'm starting it LOW with NO RESERVE!!
CONDITION OF VINYL: NEAR MINT. The clear vinyl playing surfaces show absolutely NO SIGN of having been played. The vinyl feels silky and beautiful to the touch and there are NO paper scuffs, no needlewear, no surface marks NOTHING. I have strived to keep this record in lovely condition... PLAYBACK is AMAZING. Smooth with pretty much NO pops between songs: Nothing can prepare you for listening to this music on VINYL played VERY LOUD. Wait for it to kick in! The labels are completely PERFECT with no spindlemarks WHATSOEVER! GORGEOUS
CONDITION OF SLEEVE/POSTER: NEAR MINT. The packaging has retained it's brilliance. The front, rear, and inner gatefolds are all STUNNING, with no dints or marks interfering with the art work! There is a little wear at the extreme corners of the record but this in no way interefes with the brilliant artwork. I like to be as thorough as possible to give you the clearest picture of what you are buying... I always expect this myself when buying LPs. The spine is stiff and the text totally legible. I attempted to photograph the poster unfolded but it is TOO LARGE! It is five portraits of the group in suitably dark, gothic style with info etc. on the other side. Many of the copies I've seen on sale don't even include the poster! Rest assured this is present and in BEAUTIFUL SHAPE. It is uncreased and unworn.. graded at NEAR MINT. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!
