IOW Psychedelic Drummer Festival Poster 1970 - Mint
Description:
This auction is for an original poster from the 1970 Isle of Wight Rock/Pop Festival, the third and largest held on the island during the August Bank Holiday of 1970. This poster, known as the 'Psychedelic Drummer', was designed by Dave Roe. The line up sounds like a who's who of 1970's rock - The Doors, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Donovan, Moody Blues, Jethro Tull, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Chicago, James Taylor, Procol Harum, the list goes on and on. What makes this poster extremely rare is the fact that it was never used, but left in the original printers packaging and only came to light when the promoter's offices were being cleared out at Freshwater on the island. Measuring 20" x 30", it has never been folded, only rolled, and never exposed to the light, hence the sparkling, pristine condition and brilliant colouring. The photos above do not do justice to the amazing original colouring, which is why I have added a close up detail of one section. A chance to own a truly mint original poster. As you can see from my address, the Island is my home and I was here for the festival. Whether you feel nostalgic for your time at Afton and 'Desolation Row' or whether you never attended but just want a piece of rock history, this poster is for you. Payment and Shipping:
