If you opened the page after seeing the Gallery photo, I think you know how rare this is, by my research this is an extremely rare MONO album compilation of 11 tracks. (read Labels in photo's for details)There are two copies of this record that I can find on other online sellers sites, one is described as faultless and is a mere snip at $CAD2500 another one in the UK is damaged with two scratches that can be heard for a combined total of 1 minute, only 465GBP. 

The keen starting price for this LP reflects that this is an AUSTRALIAN pressing,NOT THE UK PRESSING, with some mild pops and ticks and a few surface scuffs, two very small scratches, (less than 10 repeat clicks each, see condition description) . As far as I know a set of original stampers were sent to HMV In Australia to make the local records. Stock number is OCLP 1021, THE ORIGINAL UK stock number is CLP 1021. HMV classicals were perhaps better known to collectors in the ASD and ALP stock catalogue, perhaps that is why this is so rare?

 In all the thousands of classical records I have handled, I have only seen this once, here it is, probably never to be repeated by me. I dare say as OZ only had 12 million population in the 60's, the number of these still in existence would be far fewer than from the UK where there  were lots more potential 'buyers' for their pressings. I have heard from an old HMV sales rep that classical records in australia were pressed as needed in small batches of only a few hundred or a couple of thousand at a time and then re pressed if required, (that's why some OZ lp's have UK covers, it was cheaper to import covers than print full color laminated covers in small runs.)

Condition

I have supplied 6 supersize photo's of various aspects, There are odd pops and ticks spasmodically OCCASIONALLY thru out the record, it is 50 yrs old after all, but specific areas of small damage are as follows

SIDE ONE First track has a few more pops and ticks than the rest, especially early on, perhaps due to a few stylus touchdowns over the years, there is one small scratch first track, I couldn't get it to show on photo, too small, but only creating 8-10 soft clicks. and a mark on track 4 only noticeable with a magnifying glass, but sounding as loud clicks for 6-7 revolutions.

SIDE TWO  again opening track has a few more pops and ticks, but settles down during intro just after Ida commences. Track two has one very loud pop at the end of the track, same on track 3. Track four has 4 repetitive ticks halfway through, other tracks are fine.

Record came to me obviously cared for. However I HAVE  cleaned it twice with a Knosti record cleaner, then treated with LAST "power cleaner" and LAST "record preservative" (said to protect from playing wear for upto 200 'plays'). Most audiophiles such as yourselves are probably already using this or similar, I have just saved you the time and expense.

The cover is very nice, also printed in Australia, it has some mild rubbing of the "shiny"l ight cardboard, I would not say this is a laminated cover, the card is exceptionally well maintained given its non laminated surface,  cardboard rubbing of the surface is very minimal, no real ring wear, shows more as a raised embossed outline only of the LP contained within. ALL seams are clean and no signs of splitting, corners only have very minor wear . Rear is also clean with minimal yellowing, and  an index record sticker allocating a folio number it was filed in by the previous owner.  I would not remove this as they could damage the cover.

ONLY OTHER DEGRADING FACTOR FROM A COLLECTOR VIEW IS THE RED PLASTIC TAPE ON THE SPLINE THE PREVIOUS OWNER PLACED THERE AS A VISUAL FILING COLOR CODE IN HIS COLLECTION. IT LOOKS LIKE INSULATION TAPE, BUT, I AIN'T TOUCHIN IT!!!.  Another of his records of a cheaper type had the same tape, and it COULD BE REMOVED FROM THE FRONT, BUT WAS TOO WELL STUCK TO THE PLAIN CARD REVERSE, SO IF YOU PURCHASE THIS, I ADVISE YOU DO AS I HAVE DONE, AND CONTINUE TO USE THE PRETTY RED TAPE AS A LOCATOR OF YOUR PRECIOUS lp IN YOUR SHELVING!!!.

 The plain card of the reverse shows very little sign of yellowing as these old white card sleeves from the sixties can do.

The original EMI inner sleeve was only a plain plastic sleeve in Australia, and having just cleaned it so well, I am supplying a more modern archive quality sleeve with anti stat and no scratching properties.  This is from the modern audiophile company Mobile Fidelity (MFSL) and is standard issue with their vinyl pressings.
