Description
Extremely rare I sided 7 inch acetate
Actually it's double sided but the other side with two tracks has been scrawled across to stop playing.
First thing to say is that this isn't the Beatles-it's someone covering the Lennon track.
This came from a bunch of acetates from a friend who worked at Apple and Abbey Road.
I think it's pretty obvious when you hear it that it's a demo version-well I think so-it's a bit too sparse for release.
As you can hear there is background noise and a small stick-which is sometimes there and sometimes not.
I think its only fair that I load the soundclip where it does stick-simply by touching it moves it on and as I said it doesn't happen every time.
The acetate label is from the time Imagine was recorded-unlike APPLE acetates, EMI cutting room changed label designs over the years.
As with the other acetates I had at this time most were unreleased or demo copies which probably explains the condition as acetates not kept for tech reference were often simply bent to stop any usage. Curiously some of the others were Beatles songs. Kept Tech reference copies tended to be well cared for. This looks ok but it does have a small sqiggle and, as I have said, background noise. There is some writing on the label but it's faded or was erased by the engineer-a fairly commen practice if the acetate was to be dumped.
So I have no idea who this is or if was ever released.
I keep thinking I recognise the voice but that may be an illusion.
