Description
Wow, check this out: a seven inch Improved announced record, #A-60 circa 1900. William Hooley recites "Mother Goose Rhymes". Includes "Old King Cole" and other favorites, very nice. The record plays quite well, with moderate surface noise.
Eldridge Johnson's Consolidated Talking Machine Company used the "Improved" label in November and December 1900. Records A-1 to A-487 were issued by December, with many records duplicating offerings from Berliner Gramaphone. In early 1901, the company started using the "Victor" name. You had to be brave (prescient??) to buy a disc record in 1900, cylinders from Edison and Columbia were the dominant format. This record is incredibly rare, nearly impossible to find. Own a piece of record history, go for it!!
