Description

Rare and sought after original issue of Elmo Hope Sextet "Informal Jazz" featuring an all star lineup of John Coltrane, Hank Mobley, Paul Chambers, Donald Byrd, and Philly Joe Jones. As good as it gets!


Original prestige issue 7043 with deep groove label west 50th street address, RVG Rudy Van Gelder initials in deadwax.


PLEASE READ MY DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY! I have also provided audio samples highlighting mostly THE WORST aspects of playback with some nice parts for contrast.  I have exposed all flaws so there should be no confusion! Please ask questions or for more samples if you would like.


This record is a rare and sought after piece being sold as is.  The LP surface contains a large number of marks, most of them being light and superficial, but a few of them do indeed cause some noise during playback. In particular, there is one skip at the very beggining of " On It " and there are three points during "Avalon" where the playback hits a scratch and skips quickly. The other side fares a little better, but still contain some light playback noise, highlighted especially in quieter moments. I have included audio samples containing some of the best and worst moments of playback so you can tell what you are looking at. My system tends to dramatize all flaws, and every system is different!

Sleeve is mostly clean and intact, with the obvious flaw of a heavy abrasion by the opening ( see picture ). Otherwise just light discoloration in certain areas. Hole punch through center of sleeve.
