Introducing The Beatles
Version One / Column Cover
ULTRA RARE 1964
VG COVER
VG VINYL
This is the rarest Beatles LP out there! Which is why it hurts to mark this one down! BEST OFFER AUCTION! Guaranteed authentic by the foremost Beatles experts in St Louis and since this has been offered for sale, no one has doubted it's authenticity. It's a genuine Stereo FIRST STATE "Intro" with the rare track listing and the rarest of stereo covers. All there, and all square!
Less than 20 have been found so far! This is why it has been bootlegged so many times... but this is no bootleg, but a genuine first version stereo pressing with the rarest of all, COLUMN COVER as well with the first original song listings featuring the songs Love me Do and PS I Love You. There were three variants of the first version, an AD cover (featuring ads of other VJ LP's on the rear slick), a BLANK cover (which is just what it sounds like... a blank cover slick) and the rarest of all the COLUMN COVER (with the songs listed in columns on the rear slick). This is the most rare, because the VJ label had received a court injunction against them for the use of the songs Love Me Do and PS I Love You, which they had already pressed into these LP's. It was because of this that they tried to hide the contents of the LP with the other two variants and why the version with the songs listed is SO RARE! Couple that with the STEREO version (ultra rare in stereo to begin with) and you have a supreme top shelf collectible... one of less than TWENTY!! Much more rare than the BUTCHER COVER, incidentally!
We have collected for many years and guarantee that this is the original TRUE STEREO, VERSION ONE!! With the rarest of ALL covers, featuring SONG TITLES and STEREO BANNER on the front. There are literally hundreds of thousands of bootlegs out there, and only a handful that are genuine! Note the shadow next to George, the small dead-wax area and the stamps in the dead wax. Also the original 1963 matrices with the "S" suffix to denote stereo. This is a guaranteed original version one, both cover and jacket a perfect match!
This is the original TRUE STEREO LP pressing from JAN 1964. The version one stereo will have both the title and the band name above the spindle hole and will have an OVAL logo. Anything else is a fake or at the very least a later pressing. They also have the two songs that were banned, (PS and Love me Do). Because they had received a court injunction to prevent the issuing of those two songs, they decided to SNEAK out a few copies in JAN 1964 before version two hit the presses, by issuing it with an AD cover or BLANK cover (both with no song listings, to not draw attention to the fact that the LP had the two banned songs on it). This is the reason the Column cover is the rarest, because the listing of the banned songs on the outside of the record was something they were trying to avoid and only a few were issued before the other two version one variants were released.
The condition is VG with clean grooves and very nice gloss, very low distortion, a few hairlines, a few scuffs, and a sounder scratch on "I Saw Her Standing There" and part of "Misery", also one set of initials on the color band portion of the label and on the cover (see the pics). Plays with GREAT fidelity, bright and punchy with just a very little surface noise audible through the hearty stereo program.
The cover is ULTRA RARE, and is the correct version and NOT a fake. The seams and spine are in tact mostly, but for a small 1" perforation near the mouth (envelope opening).
I will upload a link to hear the true stereo tracks on this auction soon. Thanks for looking, I guarantee all ratings and that this is a genuine first pressing, and NOT a common bootleg. NOT A BOOT!!! But, one in a million!
HERE IS AN AUDIO SAMPLE OF SIDE TWO (the entire side with no filtration at all). Just click the link for the audio which is in true stereo and sounds amazing! The first song is in mono, however, as PS I Love You and Love Me Do were actually recorded in mono and never appeared in true stereo ever,.. ENJOY!
