Introducing The Beatles Mono album Cover UNOPENED

I am at a loss on what to do with this album.  I picked it up several years ago believing it was a great find.  I later learned that conterfeit albums were produced and have tried to determine if this is one of them.  The problem is that it has several conflicting characteristics that the so-called web site authority lists as critical to determining authenticity. 

On the plus side, it has the shadow of George, good glossy paper, and no "color dots" used for setting up a color press.  This would indicate an authentic album.

The only negative is the off-register colors as shown in the close shots of the faces. The "authority" guy says the printing should be of "high quality" which is  subjective.  I am not going to try to pass judgement on this one.

The big dilema is that it has apparently never been opened, but it must be opened to help determine authenticity.  I have not wanted to open it because to do so forever changes the fact that it is unopened and a possible original!  What to do...

This is what I have decided.  I am not qualified to make an authenticity judgement and I don't know of anyone locally who is qualified.  I do know that those who collect these are quite capable of making this determination, and will bid accordingly if they have enough information.  The best information I can offer is visual, therefore I have taken a fairly large number of images for this auction.  I will take more if asked.

Since we do not know what is actually inside this cover, the contents are NOT included in this auction, whatever they are.

My plan is to see what happens with this cover.  If it languishes at the $10 point, we will know the situation and can assume the contents are without high value.   I will then have good reason to open it and see what is inside.  I will then auction the record and inner sleeve by itself.

On the other hand, if the bidding skyrockets it is fair to assume the market believes we have an authentic album cover, and the contents are almost certain to be authentic as well.  In this second case I may still leave the wrap unopened as there is a good chance the winner of the cover auction here will want the contents also, and possibly want the shrink wrap to remain intact.  To help the bidders in both situations I will be happy to offer a 10% discount on the record and sleeve to the winning bidder IF the winner of the record and sleeve is the same person as the winner of this cover.  I will have to pay my ebay fees on the second auction based on the closing final value, but will allow 10% of the final value to be deducted from your payment to me for the record and sleeve.

Shipping is the winners choice, but insurance is required this time.  I will let you know the cost when you tell me what service to use.  I am only going to mark up the actual shipping cost $5 for handling and supplies, so don't worry about being gouged for shipping.  I really hate when that happens as you do.

So in quick summary, you are bidding here for a cover only.

If you want the contents you will need to bid again when I place the record and sleeve up for auction later (within a few days). 

If you win the record/sleeve auction later AND are the same person who won this cover, you will enjoy a 10% discount on the record/sleeve ONLY and pay no additional shipping costs except for insurance.  If you are not that same person, you shall pay the final value and shipping and insurance, with no discounts.

Whew.  Hope this works.  Sort of different but I hope you understand the reason.  This is potentially a very high value item if it is authentic and remains together.  I want to sell it in a manner that preserves the value and in accordance with the winners wishes.

If it is a $10 fake, bid accordingly.  I do not have a clue, but maybe it is worth a bit more due to it's condition.

If anyone wants to offer suggestions on how I am conducting these two sales, I would love to hear them.

The pictures should tell the story, but if more are needed please ask.  Also, please ask any other questions before you bid.  I will work with you if you are dissatisfied in any way but let's try to avoid problems with good communications in advance.
