Description

You may know the story already- In their frantic attempt to get these records out to the screaming Beatlemania masses, Vee Jay resorted to using the smaller 45 size labels when they ran out of the regular LP labels.  The following is from the Fab 4 Collectibles web site:

45-SIZE LABEL !!

Vee-Jay's habit of using whatever label backdrops were available led to this
strange and RARE variation - a label that is not the standard size album label.
Instead it is a black label with an outer rim Colorband featuring
a small Oval logo on a 45-size label. Apparently, this curiosity was pressed
after Monarch ran out of Album-size oval logo backdrops, but prior to
receiving the new album-size brackets logo label backdrops in mid-January 1964.

This is a mono, with the VERSION 1 song list ("PS I Love You" and "Love Me Do")- Spizer VJ 1062(1).MR2.  My research shows that this version was pressed at Monarch Record Mfg. Co. in California.  Note the scratch on the side 2 label (see picture #1).  Overall though, the record is is really good shape, probably a VG+ (I'm not an expert).  The cover is in pretty good condition given it's age, although it does have quite a bit of flaking on the edges.  Overall a real nice item.

I have other albums listed, including Beatles albums.  Good luck bidding and thank you for taking an interest in my auctions.

The VJ 1062(1).MR2 label variation has the following characteristics:

  • Oval Vee Jay logo
  • Left justified song titles
  • DOES NOT have the words "Long Playing" or "Microgroove" anywhere on the label
  • "Side" in capitalized lower case (vs "SIDE")
The Reserve Price might be a little high, but I'm open to making a Second Chance Offer to the highest bidder(s) in the event that the Reserve is not met.
