Description
First of all, please understand that I am not a dealer or a professional vinyl collector. However, our ratings reflect our honesty and integrity in all dealings.
I bought this record at a charity garage sale. I am basing my analysis on research gained by reviewing http://thebeatles-collection.com "Introducing The Beatles: A Comprehensive Discography and Price Guide" by Cox, York, and McGeary copyright 1997. I also took numerous pictures so you can see for yourself the issues I point out below.
Here is why I believe this to be an original, and therefore, a collectable item:
COVER
- Highly sought after sticker advertising 'TWIST AND SHOUT and PLEASE, PLEASE ME" - VERY RARE!
- Printing on the photo and text is clear, it looks professional, and has a semi-gloss sheen overall.
- Cover has 1/4" overlap of cardboard at the top and bottom on the inside.
- Back cover lists contents in two columns
- George's shadow can be seen to the right of the picture (on the right edge of the album).
- Labels have "THE BEATLES" and the title "INTRODUCING THE BEATLES" above the center hole.
- All original labels have bright, sharp silver print.
- The vinyl trail-off-the-gap between the end of the last track and the edge of the label usually measure from 7/8" to 1" wide, but never greater.
- All originals with black labels that do not have the rainbow color band are printed on a flat, not glossy, paper stock.
Here's why I felt that the COVER should be listed in GOOD condition:
- Spine is intact, but has been taped at the bottom.
- Appears the owner taped corners for good measure.
- Slight staining around corners from hand oils I assume (they enjoyed it, which is wonderful - again to me speaks of it's authenticity)!
- Name written in upper right corner and sold it for $.25. LOL
- Stamped it a few times in bottom right corner.
- Slight rubbing on photo
- On back cover, rubbing in places from use.
- A few small tears to top layer (not cardboard) and a few dots by a marker.
- Owner(s) took good care of it and sound quality remained in excellent condition.
- No deep scratches, chips or other blemishes with the exception of one tiny pop about 30 seconds into "Anna".
- No skips or damage that causes the record to "repeat".
- Label and record itself has surface scratches.
- Sunlight makes it difficult to show that the record is in such good condition, so that is why I took so many of from different angles.
- Sleeve has no tears or folds.
- Sleeve has light impression of record itself which leads me to believe that record was stored in sleeve at all times.
- Sleeve has discolored slightly with age.
