Introducing The Beatles - Version 1 Vee Jay MONO LP column back (1964) VG

Rare authentic VERSION 1 mono "Introducing The Beatles" (column "titles" back with "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You").  Cover and LP are Spizer version: VJ 1062(1).MR1A (rainbow label with Vee-Jay's oval logo, "Long Playing", "Microgroove", "Side I", and "Side II", and center justified song titles in silver ink).  This is the 1st American Beatles album; it was released 10 days before Capitol Records' "Meet The Beatles" LP.

Yes, this is an authentic copy..

1. "The Beatles" name is ABOVE the center spindle hole on the labels, 

2. Rainbow color band label has all of the colors gradually transitioning into each other (including green) and the label is centered,

3. "63-3402" (side 1), "63-3403" (side 2), "AudioMatrix", and "URJ" are stamped in the deadwax (run out area), 

4. Album cover shows George's shadow on the right side, 

5. "Honey" has NO missing ink on the rear cover slick where the song "A Taste Of Honey" is listed, 

6. Interior cover flaps are 1/4" in height. 

7. Front glossy photo and front/rear text is crisp and clear. 

Most of the version 1 copies of this LP out there (eBay and elsewhere) are counterfeit (some people use the misnomer "re-issue" or "re-print").  This one is the real deal.  Authentic version 1 copies of this LP are very rare.

Contrary to what some say, there is proof that this LP was NOT released in 1963.  While Vee-Jay contracted with AudioMatrix in 1963 to make the parts required to press this LP in 1963, the LP did NOT go into production until later.  Vee-Jay was running into money troubles in the summer of 1963 and put this LP on hold.  Once Vee-Jay saw Capitol Record's interest in the Beatles in late 1963, Vee-Jay decided to finally release this LP since they had the rights.  Also, Vee-Jay never re-issued this LP after October 1964; anything listed or labeled as a "re-issue" or "re-release" is counterfeit.

This copy is visually graded at VG (cover) and VG (record) using the visual grading standards of the Cox/Daniels "Price Guide For The Beatles American Records" (6th edition)

Some rub wear exists on the front and rear of the cover.  The top and bottom seams and spine show wear.  The front has a minor cut (looks like someone cut something on the cover and the knife left a minor mark on the cover).  No taped seams, no mold, and no water stains.  Very very faint ring wear.  There is no writing on the cover or labels.

Some normal wear on the LP with various shallow scratches and rubs but nothing is deep enough to cause any skips or detract from enjoying this LP.  Labels show some wear, too.  A nice piece of rock and roll history, however.
