Description
Original 1st version/1st pressing of "Introducing The Beatles" by The Beatles released by Vee-Jay Records on 10 Jan. 1964 (10 days before Capitol's "Meet The Beatles" LP). Spizer version VJ 1062(1).MR1C. Once VJ got notified that they were getting sued by Capitol Records for copywright infringement, they reworked the LP by removing "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You" and replaced them with "Ask Me Why" and "Please Please Me". They still had version 1 vinyl sitting around when version 2 covers (same front but the rear slick highlighting the song titles was changed to reflect the 2 song changes) so this copy is a version 1 disc with version 2 cover.
I use the visual grading standards of the Cox/Daniels "Price Guide For The Beatles American Records" (6th edition). These grading standards tend to be more stringent (and, due to this, are graded slightly lower) than Goldmine. See my various photos of the cover and record. I grade conservatively using a bright light so the buyer knows exactly what they are bidding on.
Record - VG
Very thick and heavy high quality vinyl with some scattered minor scratches and scuffs. Some measure 2" in length but none are deep. The record sounds very nice. The "AudioMatrix" stamp exists on each side in the runout. This vinyl was manufactured for VJ by Southern Plastics.
Cover - VG
Cover is in overall pretty nice shape for its age. The top seam is intact, the spine shows minor wear. The bottom seam is split open about half way of its length. A prior owner (possibly the original owner) put small pieces of scotch tape with each Beatles' name next to their heads. There is a partial round indentation on the cover's right side but it is not in the correct place to be ring wear from the record being inside the cover. Some minor writing on the cover's rear near the top.
LP will be shipped promptly in a rigid cardboard mailer for protection; I ship the vinyl outside of the cover in order to protect the cover during shipment. Payment is due within 3 days of the auction's end. Great piece of rock and roll history! Please see my other Beatles items for sale. I specialize in Beatles vinyl.
