This is Vee Jay Records VJLP 1062.

It was issued in 1964.
-
It is a MONO (monaural) PRESSING.

This is Version 2 of this LP with column back cover and includes the cuts “Ask Me Why” and “Please Please Me” which replaced “Love Me Do” and “P.S. I Love You” which are on Version 1 of this LP.

The labels have a black background and silver printing.

The labels have “VJ” and “VEE JAY RECORDS” in SILVER PRINT inside SILVER BRACKETS, Small Logo Size.

According to Cox and Daniels, this is the RARE LABEL VARIATION that has a black background with SMALL silver brackets, logo and text. THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT A COMMON VERSION 2 LABEL FOR THIS LP.

If you use Bruce Spitzer’s identification codes, this is VJ 1062(2).MR6.

BOTH COVER and VINYL are ABSOLUTELY AUTHENTIC! We know this because:

The COVER has George Harrison’s shadow.

The COVER has spine printing.

The LABELS have “THE BEATLES” printed above the spindle hole.

The VINYL has “AUDIOMATRIX “partially stamped in the trail-off on both sides.

So you can bid with confidence that you are receiving the real deal and not a counterfeit.

The COVER is in VERY STRONG VG+ to NEAR MINT MINUS (NM-) CONDITION with very slight overall wear. As you can see from the images, the cover is NICE and CLEAN. There is a small “push” on the top left corner and very light wear on the corners. There are NO Tears, NO ring wear, NO seam splits and NO writing on this cover. The rear cover is quite clean with just some light aging/foxing near the opening.

The VINYL is in NICE VG CONDITION with a number of light surface hairlines/scuffs and only one mark/scuff on Side 1, track 3 that is slightly/lightly “feel-able”. I played that track on my Technics turntable tracking at ½ gram, and there was no problem. There was NO skip. The VINYL HAS LOTS OF GLOSS! The disc is a hefty piece of vinyl. The record seems heavier than other VJ records to me. The labels are nice and clean with minimal wear small and very light spindle trails near the play hole.
This VEE JAY VERSION 2 LABEL VARIATION with BLACK LABELS & SMALL SILVER BRACKETS LOGO & TEXT is QUITE RARE! (In fact, this is only the second copy I’ve ever seen or had in my 40+ years of collecting Beatles vinyl.)
