Description
Introducing the Beatles on Vee Jay 1062. True original release mono copy, both cover and disk. Front cover has sharp, clear graphics, George's shadow present. A little light ring wear visible, but a very nice front cover slick. Rear cover has two-column song listing. Please, Please Me with the comma, no number 2 at bottom. Original price ($2.77) written in pencil at upper-right of back. Back cover slick is very clean, just a little light wear, minimal age discoloration, extremely nice. Top seam has a couple of spots where there is some chipping/flaking. Bottom seam has some wear, is missing about two inches of paper near the spine. Some light wear and very light bumping to corners. Spine is intact and legible.
LP has brackets, title and band name above the hole, correct orientation of titles and credits. Matrix numbers show that this copy was pressed at Allentown (ARC) in Pennsylvania, one of the plants that pressed legitimate original copies of this oft-booted album. Vinyl is very strong VG to VG+, with full original gloss, looks like it wasn't played much and wasn't out of its sleeve much. Scratches and marks are extremely light and superficial, and the LP plays great. There is one unsightly fingernail scuff on Side 1 that goes all the way across the vinyl and into the label (though the paper isn't torn or defaced by it), but it's strictly on the surface and makes no sound.
If you don't know the history of all the counterfeit copies of this album, or how to tell them from a true original, type "Introducing the Beatles" and "Eskimo" into your search engine and you'll find a superb website that provides extensive detail on all the various real and fake versions of this LP. As they say in their second sentence, "It seems almost every copy of this album that turns up is fake." This one is not, and it's a very nice copy.
GRADING
M- A flawless or nearly flawless record that appears to have seen little or no play.
VG+ Full gloss, some light marks. A very, very attractive record that has seen limited play and has been well cared for.
VG More marks and scratches, will have some surface noise, but still a playable record. Scratches may be fairly numerous, but will be light.
VG- Lots of marks and scratches but no gouges or major problems.
G+ and G Heavy wear and marks, plays through okay.
