J R MONTEROSE In Action. 1964 PRIVATE LP. Mega RARE
J.R. Monterose In Action, plus the Joe Abodeely Trio, Studio 4 SS 100, original 1964 Columbia custom pressing from Rock Island, Illinois (not the V.S.O.P. reissue). With Monterose (tenor sax), Dale Oehler (p), Gary Allen (b), & Joe Abodeely (d). First copy on ebay in 1½ years, and one of the best. I found un-verified information that this great release was limited to 250 copies, sold at the cloakroom of Abodeely's "The Tender Trap" night club in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. VG++ cover, no writing, splits, ring wear, or creases, but these is a bit of light yellow tinge on part of the large white "JR". It did not come off easily with a damp cloth or "Goo-Gone", and it may be ink transfer from a neighboring LP on the shelf. VG++ record, a couple light spindle marks, some light paper scuffs, and a 1 mm feel-able mark on “Lover Man”. Plays very well, occasional light tics are most likely pressing defects, since it has little signs of play. NO "Buy It Now" on this scarce item. US winner add $4 for media rate mailing; foreign customers must pay additional postage – I can’t give exact amounts until the package is sealed and addressed - read further. Insurance (at Post Office rates, see the USPS.gov site for prices), is REQUIRED (ignore the shipping default), and Registered mail or similar track-able shipping is also REQUIRED on foreign delivery.
