this version of the ‘dr, ragtime and his pals’ lp, produced by tequila sunrise records, was made specifically for jack to sell at his performance at the terrastock festival, spring 2008. the official release at that point was already a year behind schedule and was slated for release in time for the festival, but when it became clear that i wouldn’t be able to meet the deadline i proposed to jack that we make a test-pressing run of 100 (with jack taking 90 to sell and i would hold on to 10). jack contracted brooke sietinsons of the espers to screenprint the jackets and i took care of pressing the vinyl and printing/numbering the inserts (as well as assembling the package with some help from j/r).

at the time of printing, content wise, it was not intended that this version be any different than the version released in november 2008, but after many listens, jack decided he didn’t feel that three of the tracks worked within the context of the release (noted below with a ‘*’). the tracks to be excised were solo pieces and the concept of the record was meant to represent a group endeavor, and thus he felt that their removal would create a more cohesive album. i concurred and had them edited out of the final master.
