JACKAL “Awake” orig Monster Cdn prog/psych lp M-
1973/Cdn/Periwinkle PER 7309…..here’s a gorgeous ORIGINAL pressing of this monster Canadian prog/psych lp with killer guitar and gushing organ. The cover is in Excellent condition with slight shelf wear, no splits, delete, writing or other issues. The vinyl is in glossy excellent to M- condition with a few soft inaudible inner sleeve scuffs/hairlines that you can only see at an angle under extreme lighting conditions. The record plays great with light noise between some tracks. The record plays with excellent clean fidelity. A very nice addition to your record collection! Please check my auctions for other psych and prog lp’s. Good Luck and thanks for looking!

Awake Released in 1973 on the obscure Canadian Periwinkle label, Jackal's "Awake" album has become a highly sought after album by collector's of heavy psychedelic/progressive rock. This is a surprisingly good entry from brothers Chris and James Kellesis [organ & drums] with backup from guitarist Dave Bernard and singer Charlie Shannon doing hard & bluesy but sensitive progressive psych. In hindsight, this is one of the better representative albums from Canada's golden age of psych/prog and shows a band as good as any of their bill-sharing contemporaries. Jackal are often compared to Lord & Blackmore though 1973's Awake recalls as much Warhorse, Traffic or Badger with a warm, soulful sound that permeates the heavy organ/guitar interplay. Negligible is 'At the Station' but 'For You' is pretty balladry, and flowery 'Sunny Side of the Day' has familiar period trips. But it's 8 & 1/2- minute 'A New Day Has Arisen' that will perk-up the ears of any vintage Prog buff as it sweeps between majestic guitar/organ lines and softer beachcombing. 'Lost in the World' is rough as sandpaper, 'In the Heavens' is great hard acid, and the title cut is a worthy namesake. Toronto's Jackal was the real deal and delivered convincing heavy prog when many peers were stumbling over their amps.

///GRADING///
MINT: as stated with no defects
M- OR NEAR MINT: as stated near Mint!, or Mint Minus, same thing, very clean with no defect to sound or visual appearance, one scuff or mark may be permitted but it will be mentioned in the description, a near Mint record looks and plays very clean
EXCELLENT: not much below near Mint, may have a delete hole and/or a minor defect or two not visually detracting from the cover, the vinyl will appear shiny and in clean condition with very minor defects not affecting the sound, still very clean and very collectable!
VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal cover wear and/or delete/splits, still visually appealing, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have some minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much
VG+ a little more cover/ring wear and delete, splits etc., the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects, both cover and vinyl no matter the condition, I also play grade the records on high end equipment and will give an honest play grade as well as visual grade, considering the number of records I buy on line my grading is very conservative and fair.
