Up for sale is an undisputed, archive-tier original 1956 mono first pressing of Jackie McLean's 4, 5 and 6 on Prestige Records (PRLP 7048). This particular copy contains the exact "holy trinity" matrix and label combinations that elite jazz collectors spend years hunting down. It features a mirror-gloss vinyl disc that plays beautifully, making it an investor-grade piece for any serious audiophile collection
🔍 Matrix & Label Authenticity Identifiers: Center Labels: Original yellow/black "fireworks" label layout. Label Address: Displays the earliest "446 W. 50th St., N.Y.C." address (pre-Bergenfield). Deep Groove: Distinct, deep circular indentation (DG) pressed into both label areas. Deadwax / Runout Side A: Hand-etched "RVG" (Rudy Van Gelder) + "PRLP-7048-A" + Hand-etched Plastylite "Ear" / P mark + small capital "AB" (Abbey Record Mfg.). Deadwax / Runout Side B: Hand-etched "RVG" + "PRLP-7048-B" + Hand-etched Plastylite "Ear" / P mark + small capital "AB".
💿 The Vinyl: VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+) / EXCELLENT (VG++)Visually graded conservatively. The vinyl retains a beautiful, brilliant high-gloss mirror sheen. It is remarkably clean with no distracting deep scuffs or feelable lines. The yellow and black labels are incredibly clean and vibrant with virtually no spindle wear. This is a top-performing, highly collectible piece of wax.
The Jacket: VERY GOOD (VG)The thick, original mid-50s cardboard tip-on jacket is structurally strong with solid seams. The front cover art displays bright colors. The back cover shows honest age-toning. There is a cosmetic paper scrape/abrasion on the middle of the left-hand side over the liner notes (see close-up photos). It is a clean, dry surface scrape—NOT a liquid stain, water damage, or mold
