BEETHOVEN : THE FIVE CELLO SONATAS

EMI SLS 5042 STEREO (1976)

This lovely box set is from 1976 and features Beethoven's Complete Cello Sonatas & Variations performed by Jacqueline du Pre (cello) and Daniel Barenboim (piano).

These performances were recorded live at the 1970 Edinburgh Festival and were first broadcast on BBC Radio 3 in November/December 1970.

As you can see, the label is red with Nipper the Dog in a black rectangle.  The records are numbered respectively ASD 3170, 3171 and 3172.

As with all my occasional record sales I have played all three records all the way through fom start to finish and can confirm that all three play beautifully throughout.  These records look and sound unplayed (apart from once by me today).  I rarely use the term 'mint' condition but I think it is fair to say these albums really are in that category.  They sound exquisite and  are a delight to listen to. In fact, having now heard these works in full I intend to seek them out  on CD.

There is an accompanying four-sided booklet which is also in pristine condition.

The box itself has a little rubbing to the corners and the edges plus there are a few light superficial markings to the picture.  I would say that the 'worst' of these  is what looks like a very slightly scored curve arcing above Jacqueline's name.

PACKAGING

Your purchase will be bubble wrapped and mailed to you in an appropriately sized robust cardboard box. Any voids will be filled with more bubble wrap.  For good measure, the outer box will be extensively taped.

Mailing will be by second class (UK) post and within 48 hours of payment (usually 24 hours).

I will never knowingly overstate the condition of any item I sell nor will I knowingly fail to mention anything I think you should know e.g. in the case of a book ..... tears, writing, incomplete or missing pages etc.

I always try to take my photographs in an unflattering light so that any imperfections are highlighted rather than 'hidden'. I never used scanned images for this reason. Should you like to see any additional specific photographic detail e.g. close-ups of covers, pages I will provide whatever is required (I will however need your direct email address to send pictures to you).
