Hard-to-find LP from Jaki Byard titled "Hi-Fly" released by New Jazz/Prestige Records (NJLP 8273) in 1962. Original MONO pressing with purple labels. Amazing piano trio album from the versatile Jaki Byard whose style blended traditional jazz, blues, bop and free jazz. This 8-track album covers a lot of territory with standards, blues and the modern avant-garde. The trio: Jaki Byard on piano; Ron Carter on bass; Pete La Roca on drums are clicking and cooking...full of energy and expression. Essential listening!

Labels are in EXCELLENT condition. Vinyl record is in VG+ condition with a few light surface marks. Plays with background hiss that is not noticed while tracks are playing and has some sporadic noises that do not interrupt the listening experience. Occasional distortion on first track "Hi Fly" but sound is sweet throughout rest of record. Cover is in VG+ condition with some wear on edges, partial ringmark, tanning of white area and has a few pen-markings on backside. NO RESERVE.
