Description
From the personal archive of noted James Brown historian Alan Leeds. Maybe you've seen this record before but, technically, it was never officially released and is quite uncommon. K6235 was first scheduled in April, 1969, with "Any Day Now" coupled with "....Groove Maker....". Before it was pressed, Brown substituted "I'm Shook". That record was pressed and scheduled for release in May, 1969. But before it was shipped, James came up with "Mother Popcorn", an obvious potential smash hit, and K6235 bit the dust - permanently cancelled. King Records scrapped most of the pressings but some survived and sat on the shelves of the King shipping department. When that warehouse was liquidated in 1973, all of King's back stock hit the marketplace including the surviving copies of K6235! How many exist? Nobody knows but they don't show up too often!
