JAMES CLAY & DAVID “FATHEAD” NEWMAN – THE SOUND OF THE WIDE OPEN SPACES – RIVERSIDE RLP 12-327 – M-/VG+ - MONO

Recorded on April 26, 1960, this Riverside session features James Clay and David “Fathead” Newman on tenors, Wynton Kelly on piano, Sam Jones on bass and Art Taylor on drums. SIDE 1: WIDE OPEN SPACES and THEY CAN’T TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ME. SIDE 2: SOME KINDA MEAN; WHAT’S NEW and FIGGER-RATION. This is a MONO recording

I have rated the vinyl LP as M- and the record jacket as VG+ for the following reasons. The vinyl on both sides is clean of any marks. There is no sign of wear in or around the spindle hole on ether side. The record jacket is rated VG+ due to the taped top seam. Other than that, there is no appreciable sign of wear on either the cover or the liner notes. There is some wear on the spine, but no need of repair.
