Offered is an original soundtrack poster for Steven Spielberg's 1975 summer blockbuster film, JAWS starring Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, Lorraine Gary and Murray Hamilton. The poster was issued by MCA Records to coincide with the release of the film and was distributed to records stores and was never made available to the general public. Many of these posters didn't survive as they were destroyed after the advertising campaign.
The poster measures 18" W x 24" H and uses the iconic artwork created by artist Roger Kastel that was used for the paperback novel as well as the original movie poster. However, this poster differs slightly in that the anatomy of the nude swimmer is more graphic (see photo # 7) as originally painted by the artist. Prior to the movie posters being printed, studio executives requested the artwork be amended to feature a "less graphic" depiction of the nudity.
The poster is in very fine+ condition. There are no pinholes, tape, staple holes, tears or missing paper. There is some minor wrinkling in the lower left corner of the poster (see photo # 9), a light crease at the bottom of the poster (see photo # 5 for a front view and photo # 6 for a rear view), a very slight crease to the left of the shark (see photo # 4) a tiny line caused by the printer on the right (see photo # 8) and some very, very light handling. The poster has been stored rolled for the last 25+ years in an acid-free tube. It comes from a smoke-free, pet-free and climate controlled environment.
This is an EXTREMELY RARE AND HARD TO FIND original JAWS poster used during the advertising campaign in 1975 and is highly sought after by Jaws collectors and movie memorabilia enthusiasts. Would make a great addition to your Jaws collection.
