ONLY RELEASE!!! 1964 UK IMPACT label CAT No. MP 1620. MATRIX 644. 643. 

VINYL...some playing hairlines,under light.  AUDIO...virtually like new(6 barely audible background pops side 2). MUSIC COMES OVER LOUD & CLEAR.  LABELS...Tax code sticker,sticker removal mark(see-pic), otherwise...EXC+. Original Picture SLEEVE...some light bits creasing,previous owner name written,otherwise... EXC. From a collection given to me by a concert promoter/band manager friend,before he moved to the US in 2000.

"Jay Anders And The Chevlons" were a Scottish group which was formed in 1962/3. They played the dancehall,club and pub circuit in Glasgow and the  surrounding areas during the 60`s at the same time as The Poets,The Pathfinders,The Beatstalkers,The Dream Police.They released this in 1964,which turned out to be their ONLY release,and was mainly sold at their gigs. Their front-man Jay Anders(James Anderson) left the group in 1966(he decided to get a "normal" 9to5 job). Just after "Jay" left,the remaining group who continued under "The Chevlons" were signed up by the Pye label and released their debut and ONLY single in 1966 titled "Too Long Alone", which most people WRONGLY assume was their first ever record release. In late 1966 drummer Bobby Smith left the group to be replaced by  Douglas "Dougie" Henderson,who also left in mid 1967,to join The Poets,and later Marmalade. "Dougie" was replaced in the group by Charlie Coffils.  The remaining members of "The Chevlons" then re-named themselves "Cartoone". They went on tour as the supporting act to such groups as B.J.Kramer,The Easybeats,The Merseybeats,The Hollies etc. They were then noticed by the Atlantic label, who promptly signed them up.  This culminated in the release in 1969 of their debut and ONLY single titled "Knick Knack Man" and ONLY album release,the self titled "Cartoone". The single and album had "Jimmy Page"(Led Zeppelin)guesting with them.

Mike Allison left Cartoone in 1969 to get more into his ability of great song writing,and as far as I know is well and living in California. Sadly Derek Creigan passed away in 1990 and Mo Trowers in 2004. After strenuously trying. I could not find any information on the other two Original "Jay Anders And The Chevlons" group members, Bobby Smith or James(JayAnders)Anderson.

Historic rare single & after Half a Century it virtually still plays like back in the day!!!!!
