Description

I’ve recently acquired a number of extremely rare vintage test pressings spanning jazz (Tubby Hayes, Ronnie Scott, Alan Skidmore), soul (Aretha Franklin), pop (Phil Spector) and more. I’m selling them all now, so please check my other items.

Up for auction here is…

THE JAZZ COURIERS
‘Selection’
(Decca LTZL 15188) 1960

These two single-sided UK Decca white label test pressing discs contain the recordings that ended up being released on the London imprint as ‘The Couriers Of Jazz’ in April 1960.  As you can see from the photos, at the time these were made the intention was evidently to credit the LP to ‘The Jazz Couriers’, though it eventually went out under Hayes’ and Scott’s names.

Each disc contains one complete side of the finished LP, with the other side playing a continuous reference tone.

The personnel is Ronnie Scott (tenor sax), Tubby Hayes (tenor sax), Terry Shannon (piano), Jeff Clyne (bass) and Bill Eyden (drums).

Both discs are in clean VG+ to EX condition, and come in their original ‘factory sample’ inner sleeves.

Needless to say, you will probably never have another chance to acquire this.

I’ve been selling records on eBay since 2001 and am a collector myself. I have 100% positive feedback and grade records as accurately and conservatively as possible, as well as packing them with great care.

Payment is expected promptly via PayPal.

I will happily post worldwide, but insist on tracking.

Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Good luck!
