ORIGINAL DEBUT SINGLE FIRST ISSUE DEMO
Definitely 'classic' JETHRO TULL sound here, with Ian Anderson showing his great vocal talent already.
The guitar was by the brilliant Mick Abrahams then, another great musician, who wrote the 'A' side of this 45 (flip composed by Len Barnard & Ian Anderson).
If you can imagine the record company staff-member hearing that band-name over
a telephone, it might be how the mistaken title was given them at this start.
It didn't get corrected for the release either, and stayed as 'Jethro Toe' for that time being.
Well, because this sold NO copies to anyone and got zero airplay - the record company (who didn't promote them either) the record lable didn't pick them up for further interest.... another bigger mistake, indeed! Tull went onto greater and greater heights because the young ISLAND lable WERE prepared to invest and encourage their artists.
So, lost in the piles of releases back in 1968, when psych was turning floral, this little gem went begging for buyers and found none. Thier retrospective collections didn't even include this 45.
Onward and upward for JETHRO TULL, but a diamond that barely emerged from the mine - this lovely single - is almost a forgotten gem-stone!
The vinyl is VG+ overall, a fair amount of light surface scuff-marking but sounding great, closer to EX
The Lables grade EX condition.
