Record Label: Audio Fidelity DFS 7037

1964 Stereo Pressing.

Condition: Light ring wear on the lightly laminated record jacket. Corners have wear but are still sharp. Top left corner has a bit of chipping along the spine. Bottom has about a one inch split on the right corner. Record is very clean. A couple of light visual scuffs that do not affect play.

Review: Jim Messina has had an interesting musical career, although if you are under the age of 50 you may never have heard of him. His first credit is usually listed as a recording engineer and producer - and later bass player for Buffalo Springfield.

But there is a darker, more mysterious past. Jim had his own "Hot Rod" band going in the early 60's "Hot Rod" is related to "Surf" music, but adds assorted car sounds. Jan & Dean might be classified as "Hot Rod" and the Beach Boys recorded Little Deuce Coupe - probably the best known song in the genre.

So here it is "The Dragsters" by Jim Messina & His Jesters from 1964. This is the classic "Surf" and "Hot Rod" lineup - three guitars, bass, drums, and baritone sax. All Fender guitars of course! And two Mustangs and a Corvette make it Hot Rod.
