DESCRIPTION:
On offer with NO reserve. JIM REEVES TRI GOLD LONDON EP entitled BIMBO BOY VOLUME 2 released in 1955 on the tri-centre Gold London label. This UK first press London EP has become increasingly hard to find in clean condition and I’m pleased to be able to offer this along with other top rarities listed this week for auction with no reserve.
Gentleman Jim Reeves was perhaps the biggest male star to emerge from the Nashville sound. His mellow baritone voice and muted velvet orchestration combined to create a sound that echoed around his world and has lasted to this day. Detractors will call the sound country-pop (or plain pop), but none can argue against the large audience that loves this music. Reeves was capable of singing hard country ("Mexican Joe" went to number one in 1953), but he made his greatest impact as a country-pop crooner. From 1955 through 1969, Reeves was consistently in the country and pop charts - an amazing fact in light of his untimely death in an airplane accident in 1964. Not only was he a presence in the American charts, but he became country music's foremost international ambassador and, if anything, was even more popular in Europe and Britain than in his native America. This EP is of keen interest to London Gold Tri collectors and Reeves fans alike

CONDITION:
A note on grading I use the Record Collector grading system with the addition of a (+) or a (-) to denote a slight increase or decrease in condition. Items described with an aural grade have been carefully played on a Thorens TD-124 MKII with an SME 3012 Tonearm and Ortofon SPU moving Coil Cartridge.

Cover:
The un-laminated double flip back cover displays sharp edges to all sides. The opening edge displays no feathering, tears or damage. There is no writing, stickers or other undesirable features to speak of. The colour remains unfaded to the front of the jacket. On the reverse of the cover the 2 flip back strips are fully intact and sharp, the back slick is slightly discoloured displaying mild ring wear.. All text is 100% clear and legible. Overall this is a nice cover (see images for detail) Condition = VG+
Record:
The Surfaces of the record display a full glossy sheen featuring a few non sounding paper scuffs only under direct angled light. The disk is flat with no warp or buckle of any kind. The wonderful Plum Gold London labels show light signs of use to the spindle hole only. There is no writing, rips, stickers or other detractors. The audio quality of this MONO pressing is a total joy, I have listened through to both sides keenly and the resultant grade of this copy is a solid EX (Excellent) condition both visually and aurally…Please take the time to study the images above and listen to the sound clips which I hope illustrate the condition of this record far better than wordy descriptions
