Description
You won't fine this wonderful record very often. It's called 'Are You Experienced' and it's the first LP by The Jimi Hendrix Experience. This is a UK mono pressing from 1967 on the Track label (catalogue no. 612001). It just shows how far ahead of his time Jimi Hendrix was. There is nothing more to say except that every progressive/psychedelic/blues/jazz collector should have this record in his or her collection.
OUTER SLEEVE - The sleeve is in pretty good condition. It is laminated on the front with definite creasing and slight ring wear but no damage. There is no evident feathering at the mouth of the sleeve and the top and bottom edges are in fine condition with minimal wear. The spine of the sleeve is well worn and there are a couple of minor splits on the spine. There is no wording along the spine because of the wear. The rear of the sleeve shows some minor ring wear and some minor discolouration. There are write-ups on the rear sleeve about the 3 members of The Experience, Jimi Hendrix, Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding. In the bottom right hand corner it shows the Track Records logo and states underneath this 'POLYDOR RECORDS LTD. - 612001 - Printed and made by Ernest J. Day & Co. Ltd., London, W.1. Patent pending. I've graded the sleeve as VG.
INNER SLEEVE - This is a white diecut plastic lined sleeve (probably not the original). It states on one side of the inner sleeve -'MADE IN ENGLAND R.S. 10-79 - UK Patent No. 1,072,844 - Brevete SGDG 1,405,719 - Eire 28160. It is slightly creased and I've graded the inner bag Ex-.
RECORD - The record itself looks clean with some definite marks and there is surface noise and there are some pops and clicks on both sides (these noises are especially evident at the start of track one, side one for a few revolutions). There are definitely no jumps or skips on any of the tracks. The record plays through on both sides very well. The labels are the Track textured types and are in fine condition with some definite spindle marks. The record has been well played. There is no damage to the labels on either side. It states on the circumference of both labels - 'ALL RIGHTS OF THE MANUFACTURER AND OF THE OWNER OF THE RECORDE WORK RESERVED - MADE IN GT BRITAIN - UNAUTHORISED PUBLIC PERFORMANCEBROADCASTINGAND COPYING OF THIS RECORD PROHIBITED'. It states at the bottom of each label - 'A. Schroeder/(Yamata)'. The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are as follows - side one - 612001 A V 1 1 1 5 - side two - 612001 B X V 1 1 1 1. I have graded the record as VG+ and I believe that this is very fair. I try to grade everything as accurately and conservatively as possible. The winner of this auction will not be disappointed.
