Description
This is an auction for a rare LP, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Are You Experienced.
This was released by Track Records in 1967 and has catalogue number 612001. This has a laminted front sleeve and matt rear sleeve. Please check the pictures for clarification.
Matrix: 612001 A1 612001 B A1
Condition: The sleeve comes with the following faults, please check the pictures for clarification on condition. The sleeve has a split down the spine edge, lamination creases, a small hole can be seen in each corner indicating this may of been hung or pinned up. On the rear there is a sticker "Castle Eden" and some very light dirt marks. This is complete and graded at Good.
This comes with its original 'patent' inner sleeve which has some yellowing.
Both labels have lots of spindle trails and some spindle wear. Again please check the pictures for clarification.
The vinyl, on the whole, is quite dull looking with numerous scratches and marks and looks well played. When viewing this I did not hold out to much hope on it playing through both sides with out a major problem or two and that it would skip, jump or stick on several occasions. So to my surprise it not only played through both sides but the audio was actually quite strong despite the numerous surface noises. Anyway I took the following notes when playing.
Side 1- Track 1- Four loud ticks heard and some quiet crackles in places.
Track 2- Fine with only occasional quiet crackle.
Track 3- Quiet tick heard and occasional quiet carckle.
Track 4- Fine with occasional quiet crackle.
Track 5- three ticks and occasional quiet crackle.
Track 6- As above with two or three quiet ticks and occasional quiet crackle.
Side 2- Track 1- crackles and consistant tick which is quite loud from very start, this clears completely, to return at very end of track.
Track 2- Tick from track one and some crackles continues into this track, this completely clears before vocal comes in.
Track 3- The crackles heard in the crossover are soon drowned out once more by the audio, at the end of this track a tick can be heard again.
Track 4- This tick and a few crackles start this track but are soon drowned out by the strong audio and completely disapear.
Track 5- A few quiet crackles at the very beginning and the very end of this track.
Track 6- Played fine with occasional crackle.
First thing to say is that there is no continuous hiss or feckle on either side, it is apparent that the feckling heard in many places is at the records quietest moments, eg, the very beginning or end of each track and that much of the feckling that is actually occuring is drowned out by the surprisingly strong audio. Yes this does have ticks and clicks and crackles and a few quiet pops but just about all of this is in the background of the music and is certainly not overlapping the audio to such an extent that you lose chords or notes from the music. Apart from the very beginning of each side, where feckling loud and apparent, the audio is not distorted and plays with very little fading. As this stands a grade of Good is both fair and accurate, I have not cleaned it so maybe possible to lift some of the surface noise after a decent clean. This can only be considered as a gap filler and is fine just to listen to but is certainly not for the purist. A further upgrade would be required for you serious collectors of quality vinyl. I have just checked the pictures and I think they flatter this slightly, so please read the description as it is accurate.
A worthy gap filler with exceptable sleeve and audio.
